About truthisconcrete

truthisconcrete is an independent publication dedicated to the intersection of art and political strategy. We catalogue artistic activism, manifestos, critical theory, and documentary practices that confront power structures.

What We Do

Following the legacy of the 2012 gathering in Graz, Austria — a marathon camp of more than 200 artists, activists, and theorists — this publication documents strategies where art and politics converge. We maintain an extensive handbook of artistic strategies, a growing collection of critical essays, and profiles of practitioners working at the boundaries of art and social change.

Editorial Approach

Our editorial framework draws on the traditions of institutional critique, political aesthetics, and socially engaged practice. We prioritise primary sources: manifestos in their original language, first-person accounts from practitioners, and scholarly analysis grounded in specific case studies rather than abstraction.

What We Are Not

truthisconcrete is not affiliated with any institution, festival, or university. We are not the 2012 Truth Is Concrete marathon camp, nor do we represent steirischer herbst or any other arts organisation. We are an independent editorial project maintained by a small team of researchers and writers.
