Ganzeer is a designer, video-maker, illustrator, writer, speaker and contemporary artist. Since 2011, he has become prominently known outside of the typical art/design spheres due to his art activist participation in the Egyptian revolution using murals, stickers, graffiti, posters and other forms of street-art across Cairo’s public spaces. His work during the Egyptian uprising demonstrated how street art could serve simultaneously as protest documentation, political commentary, and collective morale-building — transforming the walls of Cairo into a living, evolving chronicle of revolution.
